Hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts will gather in Marion this weekend for the annual Hog Daze celebration. Marion is called the home of the hog because of a motorcycle race in the early 1900’s in which the winner picked up a hog and carried it with him for a victory lap. The name stuck.
Local organizer Andy Whitton says there’ll be a lot to do for a bargain price starting today and extending through Sunday.
There will also be dozens of vendors on hand with food, motorcycle merchandise and much more, and bands will be playing almost constantly on the stage starting later today.
All of the activities of Hog Daze will take place in and around Ballard Field on the east side of Marion.
