Howard County judges have proposed ways to ease their case load burden and lower the local jail population.
The judges propose hiring a magistrate judge that could handle minor cases, thus relieving the other judges to handle the criminal load.
The other part of the part plan includes a request already before with the Indiana Supreme Court that would revise the county’s case-allocation system by establishing a weekly rotation for handling felony cases.
