Educators across the country are expecting mass walkouts of one kind or another today as high school students plan to leave classes and protest for improved school safety and gun control.
The National Walkout Day is slated for 10 a-m and will last 17 minutes, in honor of each of the 17 victims of the Valentine’s Day mass shooting in Parkland, Florida.
Most schools will allow the protests if they are peaceful, but they urge students to return to class after 17 minutes.
