Blackford Circuit Judge Suspended By Supreme Court

The Indiana Supreme Court yesterday suspended Blackford County Circuit Court Dean Young for six days without pay for his actions involving the Clerk of his court.

A three-judge panel appointed by the Supreme Court had recommended the suspension earlier after it evaluated a disciplinary complaint.

The Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications accused Young of violating the Code of Judicial Conduct when he prohibited County Clerk Derinda Shady from entering the courthouse for six days in August of 2015.

Young says he will accept the punishment.  He has chosen not to seek another term as Circuit Court Judge in Blackford County.
