BSU Economics Prof Predicts Big Trouble From Tariffs

Tariffs on aluminum, steel and soybeans could do a lot of harm to Indiana’s economy, according to Ball State University Professor Michael Hicks. He predicts some six-thousand workers could lose their jobs in the state by the end of this year if the tariffs remain in place.

Hicks says the effects of the tariffs and retaliation by American trading partners will be felt in the coming weeks. He said the biggest effect will be in areas that are supportive of the president, including manufacturers in the Midwest and states that rely on agriculture, both of which include Indiana.
