Next Generation Wi-Fi Coming To Indiana

Next-generation wi-fi is on its way in Indiana, and the Federal Communications Commission may copy Indiana’s approach to bring it elsewhere.

Indiana is one of 20 states that has re-written its laws on wireless transmission to reflect the shift from giant cell towers to 5-G, which uses a backpack-size transmitter instead. F-C-C Commissioner Brendan Carr says copying that regulation will accelerate the shift to 5-G, including in rural areas that are still trying to get broadband.

Verizon and A-T-and-T have already announced plans for 5-G networks in several parts of Indiana.
