City Council Wants Body Cams For Marion Police

Marion Mayor Jess Alumbaugh and the Marion City Council want Marion Police officers to have body cameras in 2019.  Now they’re trying to figure out how to fund the project.

City Council members met last night as the Budget Committee…which includes the entire council.   They discussed how to give local officers the body cameras, which Mayor Alumbaugh calls “a priority.”

According to the “Chronicle-Tribune,” Mayor Alumbaugh plans to seek funding from the council to begin the process of buying the body cameras yet this year.

Council members agree that the officers need the devices and have begun floating various ideas on how to pay for them.

The council will give final approval to the 2019 city budget on October 16th.
