Marion Police & Multiple Murders Arrests

Marion Police officers are relieved, but yet not satisfied over the arrests of three persons in connection with four local murders in the past three months.

Marion Police Wednesday announced the arrests of Jamere Jones and Demetrius Jackson of South Bend and Brittany Drake of Marion.  Jones and Jackson are charged with four counts of Murder and all three are charged with Armed Robbery.  The South Bend men are charged with killing Javon Blackwell, his 12-year old son and 11-year old stepson in late December, plus the killing of Maurtreyvian Sanders in November.  All three are accused with the robbery of the Family Dollar store on South Adams Street two days before Christmas.

Marion Police Chief Angela Haley says the killings were specific targets and not random acts of violence.

Investigators say it appears that robbery was the apparent motive in the four killings, for either cash or drugs or both.

Haley says her department is still actively investing Jones, Jackson and Drake to see if they can tie them to any other unsolved crimes in Marion in the past year.
