Allstate Foundation Awards $50,000 Grant to Junior Achievement of Central Indiana

The Allstate Foundation awarded Junior Achievement of Central Indiana (JA) a $50,000 grant to support its Empowering Success Initiative, a continuum of experiential learning programs for K-12 students to empower young people to plan and prepare for careers of the future. The nonprofit organization provides educational programs and curriculum focused on economic empowerment to over 32,000 students in central Indiana each year.

JA’s Empowering Success Initiative aims to address the problem of too many young people not completing high school with an actionable post-secondary plan for college, career or military. The initiative is designed for businesses to work collaboratively with local schools to inspire and empower youth to own their future success through long-term, sustainable and highly impactful programming. The Empowering Success Initiative will build a foundation for success that results in increased high school graduation rates and achievement of post-secondary plans, positively impacting the cycle of generational poverty and will create a stronger central Indiana community and workforce.

“At JA, we want to instill students with the knowledge and skills needed to help them be successful in the future,” said Jennifer Burk, President and CEO, Junior Achievement of Central Indiana. “The generous support from The Allstate Foundation will further JA’s mission to empower young people to own their future success and achieve their full potential.”

Through in-school and summer programs, JA helps students in grades K-12 gain an understanding of career exploration, employability/life skills, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and philanthropy to inspire them to explore and create opportunities, make good decisions and believe in their potential. The grant from Allstate will help JA continue its mission and grow to reach more students, specifically in middle and high schools.

“We applaud the job JA is doing to help students give thought to career pathways, work readiness skills and post-secondary education,” said David Kaehr, Allstate regional benefits leader and JA board member. “As a company, Allstate believes in building solid partnerships to strengthen the communities where we do business, work and live, and are pleased to support JA of Central Indiana through the Allstate Foundation.”

The $50,000 grant brings the Allstate Foundation’s total contribution to Junior Achievement of Central Indiana to more than $500,000 since 2008. The Allstate Foundation has invested more than $400 million in funding across the country since 1952, supporting organizations dedicated to addressing three issues: Domestic ViolenceYouth Empowerment and Teen Safe Driving.
