The Indiana Department of Natural Resources will bring programs to Mississinewa and Salamonie Lakes this spring and summer to discuss the building of dugout canoes.

Mississinewa 1812 living history event volunteers will be making 2 dugout canoes for this fall’s re-enactment, and people are welcome to watch them do so.

Dates for the Mississinewa Lake canoe building will be May 18th, July 20th and September 21st at Bostwock Pond in the Miami State Recreation Area.  Dates for Salamonie Lake are June 15th and August 17th at the wildlife management pond at the Lost Bridge West state recreation area.  All programs are between 10am-noon.
