Mayor Brooks Fetters will not be on the ballot in the fall. The incumbent was defeated by County Commissioner Larry Buzzard in Tuesday’s Primary.
According to WPTA -21, Buzzard held 54 percent of the votes, to Fetters’ 46 percent.
It was the third time Buzzard has tangled with Fetters in a mayoral primary, and the first time he’s come out on top.
Buzzard, a commissioner first elected to that office in 2012, owns ChemTech Consulting. He ran a campaign built largely on a platform of spending controls and reform.
Fetters will leave office after the completion of his second term.
