Grant County storm damage

Grant County suffered, in some areas, extensive wind damage from the storms that swept through the area early this morning.

According to Grant County Emergency Management Agency Director Bruce Bender, the damage was fairly widespread.

As of late this morning, Indiana Michigan power reported around 600 customers in Grant County without electricity.  Parts of Marion and just south of the city, as well as Fairmount and southeastern Grant County, were included in the outage.

Bender said that Marion General Hospital has not received any reports of injuries from the storm.  He added that, although the winds were in the 65-70 mile per hour range, no tornadic activity was reported in Grant County.
