Jo Messner to replace Allen Elementary principal

Marion Community Schools has announced that Jo Messner is stepping into the role of principal at Allen Elementary School.

Messner has served as assistant principal at Allen Elementary for three years, serving under the leadership of former principal Anthony Williams.

“We value and appreciate the positive upward direction of Allen Elementary,” MCS Superintendent Brad Lindsay said in a prepared statement. “We love the culture there, and we love our ALLEN TEAM! We are confident that Jo Messner will continue on this upward path for our students, families, and school community.”

Messner has been a professional educator for more than 30 years, and has been with Marion Community Schools since 2014. Her roles have included elementary teacher, technology coordinator, discipline coordinator, and behavioral interventionist. Her new assignment as principal will be officially approved by the Marion School Board at its July 9 regular meeting.

“I’m very excited to step into this new role,” Messner said. “I’m really looking forward to continuing to work with our great Allen students, teachers, staff, and families and build on the great things already happening at Allen!”

Messner will immediately step into this role and help provide a smooth transition.

“Jo cares for and loves the staff, students, and families of Allen Elementary, and her commitment to the school and our families is invaluable,” Superintendent Lindsay said. “She is dependable, trustworthy, and loyal to our mission. With her extraordinary work ethic, she is the right person to lead in this next chapter for our school.”
