Marion’s crime rates, outside of homicides, seem to be decreasing

Most types of crimes for the City of Marion decreased last year, except for homicides, according to reports from The Chronicle-Tribune.

The Tribune cites Police Chief Angela Haley as saying additional patrols have prevented thefts and robberies, while public events, such as National Night Out, helps to reduce the stigma of police officers.

For homicides, last year there were nine, while the average number for the previous decade and a half was 2.3.
