Weather alert: slight risk of severe weather today, potentially isolated tornado

There is a slight risk for some severe weather today for certain parts of the state.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Jason Puma says central Indiana is the direct line of fire of a line of storms developing over the Great Plains.

Western and southern portions of the state are also just as likely to see some severe storms move through. Puma says storms will start kicking up a little after noon today and will be moving through until about 8 p.m. this evening.

He says the main threats will be damaging winds, hail, and lightning. He also would not rule out an isolated tornado.
