Kokomo Symphonic Society announces ‘American Dream Tour’

The Kokomo Symphonic Society has announced the Kokomo Symphony Orchestra’s 46th season for its 2019-2020 “American Dream Tour.”

In preparation, the orchestra is seeking soloists and a choir for its December concert, Handel’s Messiah. The concert will be Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. at Havens Auditorium If you are interested in joining the chorus, please come to the first rehearsal on Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 6-7:30 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium.

Soloists auditions are Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in IUK Kresge Auditorium. The next concert is Broadway Classics of Rodgers & Hammerstein on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020 at 7 p.m. at Havens. The orchestra’s last concert of the season will be “All About Americas” on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at 7 p.m. at Havens. In addition, they will have a mini-concert that is not included in the season ticket. On March 15, 2020, Matt Gerhard in concert will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church.

The Youth Programs semester is kicking off Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, with registration at 4 p.m. Once again classes will be at Wallace School for the Integrated Arts and Sean Carey is returning as the Youth Director. The first performance for the Kokomo Symphony Youth Orchestra (KSYO) will be a youth winter concert on Dec. 1, 2019. They finish their season with a finale concert May 10, 2020 where all of the students participate in the performance; including its beginning and intermediate violin classes, cello classes and our KSYO.

All Youth concerts are free and will be held at Central Middle School.
