J.P. Morgan: strike has cost GM more than a billion dollars

The ongoing strike by General Motors employees has cost the automaker more than a billion dollars so far, according to financial analysts J.P. Morgan.

UAW workers walked off the job on Sept. 16, causing GM to cease all production at the company’s U.S. factories.

While the company has shifted some production to its Canadian and Mexican facilities, it likely won’t have as many vehicles available to sell in Q3 and Q4 of this year.

The strike is now in its third week as workers seek a bigger cut of GM’s profits and guarantee that U.S. plants will stay open.
