Police called after Eastbrook student poses with gun on Instagram

Yesterday police officers responded to an incident that involved an Eastbrook High School student and a potential weapon.

On Tuesday, a male student posted an Instagram photo with a handgun and the caption, “ready to unload it,” that led students to alert the school and eventually the police.

Grant County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Ed Beaty stated that the gun was recovered from the home of the student and he is now being questioned as this investigation is ongoing.

Eastbrook Superintendent, Brett Garrett, affirmed that there was no threat to the school and said, “There was nothing illegal that took place on school ground yesterday.”

At 8 p.m. last night Eastbrook sent out a community message stating that “inappropriate conduct occurred off-campus,” but that the proper protocol was followed to ensure student safety.

This story will be updated as more information comes to light.
