UAW members ratify GM contract, ending strike

United Auto Worker members ratified a new contract, ending a 40-day strike.

The final vote passed with just over 57% of workers agreeing to the proposed GM contract.

Locally, the vote passed with the support of around 60 percent of members according to local union leader Randy Christopher.

To inform members, two informational sessions were held to discuss the substance of the contract.

Nearby Kokomo overwhelmingly voted against the contract. 80% of production workers and 64% of skilled trades workers voted the contract down, according to the Kokomo Tribune.
