Grant County Health Department Corona Virus update

The Grant County Health Department and other local agencies released recommendations this (Friday) in the wake of the spread of COVID-19, the corona virus.  Grant County Health Officer Dr. David Moore announced that events should be limited to no more than 50 people.

Grant County Health Nurse Amber Turner reiterated that hand washing—at least 20 seconds—is still the best way to avoid contracting the virus.   She noted that alcohol-based sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol can be used when soap and water are not available.   If you have symptoms of the virus, such as fever, cough and or chest pain, call your healthcare provider and plan to stay home for 14 days.  As of today (Friday), Grant County has no confirmed cases of the corona virus.

A number of area events have already been called off, including the Marion Easter Pageant and the Concert of Crafts event in Gas City.  Marion, Eastbrook, Madison Grant, Mississinewa and Oak Hill Schools have announced that classes will be canceled starting Monday, March 16.
