He was their first COVID-19 patient, now he’s also the first to be discharged from IU Health North Hospital.
Prinest Paschal began his 48-day stay on March 12, on Wednesday he was released with a send off from his team of caregivers and The Beatles.
To celebrate his recovery, “Here Comes the Sun” played over the hospital intercom while nurses and doctors lined the hallways to cheer him on.
Paschal thanked his team of caregivers on unit 5C, the ICU and the emergency department.
“This is an unbelievable recovery,” says Donna Bopp, infection preventionist at IU Health North Hospital in a Facebook post. “When I think back to that very first night, the staff listened and absorbed everything they needed to do. They put aside any fears they might’ve had, and they jumped in and took care of everything without hesitation. It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come.”
