Convicted killer could be going free

A man convicted of killing an Indiana University student 20 years ago is set to be released from prison.

John Meyers II was convicted in 2006 of killing Jill Behrman in 2000.

According to Tristate Homepage, Meyers asked to be released from prison, citing health problems, claiming medication weakens his immune system, making him more susceptible to coronavirus.

WTHR reports that U.S. District Court ruled Friday that Meyers received ineffective counsel during the trial.

Reports state that Meyers will be released on house arrest on June 15.
