When talking to a woman, no matter what her age or marital status, and no matter how well you think you know her, here are a few things you should NOT ask:
* When are you planning to have children?
* Do you have any kids?
* Are you planning to have any more children?
* Is your son/daughter an only child?
The topic of kids is a very personal subject and sometimes a very sensitive one because of something the woman has gone through. To be safe, find something different to chat about.
