Nationally-Recognized ‘Tall Cop’ To Visit Miami County with Drug Prevention Message
Peru, IN. The Miami County Substance Abuse Prevention Council will host national expert Officer Jermaine Galloway and his award-winning community training “You Can’t Stop What You Don’t Know,” at the Peru High School Auditorium on February 26, 2019, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The interactive presentation will feature discussions of drug trends, signs and symptoms of misuse, hidden stashes and street language, prevention opportunities, and ideas for how communities influence and change drug culture.
This community event is open to the public. Refreshments and a drawing will be held after Officer Galloway’s training. Prizes include an Apple Watch and 55” smart TV. Community members are eligible to win the drawing by registering before February 15 and must be present at the event to collect the prize. Children under the age of 18 years are also eligible to register for the drawing and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to attend the presentation.
About The Miami County SAPC: The Miami County Substance Abuse Prevention Council (SAPC) works in partnership with state and local agencies to reduce substance abuse and addiction among children and adults in Indiana. The Miami County SAPC is one of 92 local coordinating councils (LCCs) mandated by state statute to develop comprehensive community plans. These plans describe county-level efforts to deliver and coordinate education and services. The Indiana Commission to Combat Drug Abuse oversees this network of LCCs, and the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute provides guidance every year to help LCCs recruit partners and volunteers, implement community plans, share resources, and manage drug-free community funds.
