Marion General Hospital is now restricting visitation at the hospital because of an increase in the flu.
Hospital spokesperson Ann Vermilion says it’s because of a high number of flu cases in the state and getting worse. She says they don’t want to make things worse for their patients.
Effective immediately, only adult immediate family members or significant others as identified by the patient will be allowed to visit. Visitors under the age of 18 will not be allowed to visit M-G-H. Visitors who have flu-like symptoms such as a cough, fever, chills or muscle aches will not be allowed. Masks will be encouraged to patients with flu-like symptoms. And guests will be asked to wash their hands and use hand sanitizer often while inside the building.
The restrictions are in effect until further notice.
