Police and officials from Indiana-Michigan Power Company are warning customers of a scam that’s been reported in this area recently.
I & M officials say some customers have been contacted by phone from someone claiming to be from I & M about overdue bills. The caller demands immediate payment or the customer’s power will be turned off.
I & M officials say customers behind in their bills never receive such calls from the company and would be notified by letter instead.
I & M says anyone receiving such calls should hang up and contact police about it.
