The two-year old girl that drowned in a Grant County swimming pool accident last week was identified over the weekend.
Two-year old Ellie Donaldson died Thursday afternoon at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis where she was flown after being found in an above-ground swimming pool east of Marion Wednesday evening.
Authorities say the girl wandered away from her grandmother, who was watching her while her father worked. Police say she apparently climbed the ladder to the pool and fell in.
Investigators say the girl was spending the summer with her father as part of a joint-custody arrangement between her parents. He mother lives in North Carolina, and that’s where the girl will be buried.
No charges have been filed in the case that police are calling a tragic accident.
