Marion Firefighters Giving Out Free Smoke Detectors

It’s October and that’s National Fire Prevention Month.  So local firefighters want to make sure you have a working smoke detector in your home is case fire breaks out.

The Marion Fire Department and the Center Township Fire Department are teaming up with the local American Red Cross to provide free smoke detectors to those who need them.

Marion Fire Chief Geoff Williams says they’re getting the word out through local school children by sending fliers out with each child..

Williams says they have about 200 smoke detectors to give away.  And firefighters will also install the smoke alarms in your home for free.  Call the Marion Fire Department at 668-4474 or the local American Red Cross at 662-9140 to make an appointment to get them installed in your home.
