Officials report more than 31-hundred dollars is missing from the account for the Madison-Grant Latchkey After-School Program at Park Elementary in Fairmount.
Madison-Grant Superintendent Doctor Scott Deetz says the missing money was discovered last spring as new people took over the operation of the program within the school system. He says the State Board of Accounts then was notified of the matter.
The State Board of Accounts said proper deposits of the Latchkey funds were not made by the former director of the program. They have ordered the former director to pay back the money in question.
Deetz says the matter has now been turned over to the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office for further review. Meanwhile, Deetz says the school system has made changes in the Lachtkey Program to better oversee the funds.
