Boy Scouts & Fishermen Save Kayaking Brothers

Miami County authorities say a group of Boy Scouts and fishermen saved the lives of two brothers who capsized their kayaks over the weekend at Mississinewa Lake and were stranded in the water for nearly an hour.

Brothers Tim and Jimmy Ratliff were fishing in their kayaks when one capsized.  As his brother attempted to rescue him, his kayak also flipped over.

A troop of Boy Scouts from Zionsville were hiking in the area when they heard cries for help.  They called 9-1-1 and found help from local fishermen who then rescued the two brothers…who were wearing life preservers and had been floating in the water for about an hour when they were pulled to safety.

Although cold and shaken, the two brothers are said to be in good shape.
