Indiana Abortion Pill Provider Refusal Law Advances

A bill that would allow pharmacists to refuse dispensing abortion-inducing drugs to patients is advancing in the Indiana Legislature and will be voted on soon by the full Senate.

The proposal is set to expand on the current law that prevents doctors from being required to take part in abortions.  State Senator Liz Brown sponsored the bill because she wants to extend that conscience, moral and religious protection to other medical professionals.

Last year, state records showed one-third of abortions were drug induced.
