Marion Community Schools has hired Dr. Troy Friedersdorf as its Executive Director of Student and Family Services.
The school created to the role to help meet the needs of students and families.
In the new position, Friedersdorf will oversee and facilitate student support services throughout the school district, according to Communications Director Patricia Gibson.
According to a press release, it will be a return to Grant County for Friedersdorf, who served as principal of Eastbrook High School for about six years, ending in 2004. He comes to Marion from White’s Junior/Senior High School, part of Metropolitan School District of Wabash County, where he has been in administration since 2004, most recently as principal. Friedersdorf has been a school administrator for 21 years total.
Friedersdorf also has a background in mental health case management and clinical therapy. With his combination of education administration expertise and mental health care, Friedersdorf will be a powerful and impactful addition to Marion Community Schools.

Superintendent Brad Lindsay said he anticipates the addition to have a very positive impact on the school system and the community.

Friedersdorf will fill some of the gap left by the departure of Michele Smith, Chief Academic Officer, who was named Principal of Pierceton Elementary School in Whitko Community School Corporation late last month. Marion Community Schools is grateful to Smith for her many years of service, from teacher, to principal, to district administrator, and we wish her the best in her new role at Whitko.
