Eastbrook High School is trying to ease the transition to high school through a one day freshman orientation.
According to Principal Patrick McLaughlin, research shows one of the most traumatic times in a child’s education is moving from eighth to ninth grade.
The orientation will be on Aug. 1 and include a keynote speaker, building tour and door prizes.
During the day freshmen will have a chance to try finding their classroom in the five minute span between bells, if successful they can drop a ticket into a bucket to win a door prize.
The school is asking community members for donations to help pay for the door prizes.
