Police: Marion man charged with strong-armed robbery

A Marion man has been charged in connection with a strong-armed robbery.

On June 21, at around 4 p.m., Marion Police Department officers responded to CVS, located at 415 W. Third St., for
a robbery in progress.

Victim Richard Stroh, 73, of Marion reported that he was walking up to CVS when an unknown male approached him and asked him for money. Stroh took out his money in order to give the male a few of dollars to help him out.

Stroh reported at that time the male grabbed onto the money that was in his hand. Stroh reported that he struggled with the male over the money when the male pushed him to the ground. The male subject then fled the area.

Witnesses were able to provide police with a physical description and a direction in which the suspect fled.

The suspect was located at 300 Block of E. Swayzee St. The suspect’s clothing matched the description provided by witnesses.

The suspect was identified as being Bryan Colburn, 36, of Marion. Colburn was transported to the Marion Police Department and gave a statement admitting that he took the money from an elderly man in the CVS parking lot. All of Stroh’s money was recovered from Colburn and later released back to Stroh.

Bryan Colburn was charged with robbery with bodily injury, a level 3 felony. Colburn was transported to the Grant County Jail without incident.

Stroh sustained minor abrasions to his elbows and knees.

Colburn is being held on a $30,005 bond.
