Howard County trying to keep up planting effort

Howard County is doing its best to keep up with planting amidst heavy rainfall numbers.

In a Kokomo Tribune interview with Howard County Extension Educator Mathias Ingle, Ingle stated the county has planted around 51,000 acres of corn and 44,000 acres of soybeans in June.

That’s near the state average, but compared to last year the county is 11,000 acres behind in corn and more than 25,000 acres behind in soybeans, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture data.
