ISP: Marion man dies in Sunday morning crash

A two vehicle crash in Grant County Sunday morning resulted in the death of a Marion man.

At around 9:40 a.m. Indiana State Police, the Grant County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources responded to a two-vehicle crash on Ind. 37, near 50th Street.

The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper A.J. Coffee revealed that James Farr, 79, of Marion, was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion northbound on Ind. 37, near 50th Street.

James Phillippe, 68, of Marion, was driving a 2010 Jeep Liberty southbound. For an undetermined reason, the Ford crossed the center line causing a collision with the southbound Jeep.

Farr was transported by ambulance to Marion General Hospital where he succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

Rebecca Farr, 77, of Marion, and a passenger in the Ford, was flown via medical helicopter to Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne. She was suffering from internal injuries.

Phillipe was not injured.

This crash is still under investigation.

Assisting Trooper Coffee at the crash scene were Trooper Eric Treon, the Grant County Sheriff’s Department, and conservation officers from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
