Catholic priest spent thousands in church money on Grindr

A Pennsylvania priest could be looking at some serious prison time after he pocketed nearly $100,000 in parish funds for personal use.

Reverend Monsignor Joseph McLoone was arrested Wednesday and charged with multiple counts of felony theft for diverting the money, some of which he used to pay men he met on Grindr.

Now formerly of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McLoone kept the cash in a secret checking account from 2011 to 2018, stealing a total of $98,405.

“These charges are serious and disturbing,” reads a statement from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, who says they’re working with law enforcement and will share updates with the parishioners.
