The number of high school students playing football in the country dropped for the fifth year in a row, said the annual survey by the National Federation of State High School Associations.
In Indiana, the decline has been noticeable, but not dramatic, said Bobby Cox, commissioner of the Indiana High School Athletics Association.
Cox said he believes the overall drop has been small, even with parents being concerned about concussions, and smaller schools seeing the number of participants drop.
