While police have been saying they believe 10-year-old Skylea Carmack died from strangulation since their press conference yesterday at 9:30 a.m., the Indiana State Police have officially confirmed it this morning.
In a press release, the ISP said an autopsy has been conducted on the body of Skylea who had been found deceased, in a shed, behind her Gas City home.
The autopsy was conducted by Dr. Scott Wagner of the Ft Wayne Forensic Examination Unit at St Joseph’s Hospital in Ft Wayne. Dr. Wagner determined Skylea’s cause of death was asphyxia by strangulation. The manner of death was a homicide.
ISP added that “there will be no further information released at this time.”
