Marion man in custody after resisting arrest, allegedly claimed police were trying to steal his body parts

A 26-year-old Marion man is now in custody after allegedly believing police officers were trying to steal his body parts and threatening officers.

According to a press release by Capt. Stephen Dorsey of the Marion Police Department, officers responded to Marion Steel for an unwanted guest on Monday at around noon.

The suspect was 26-year-old Christopher Rucker, who was allegedly on his hands and knees screaming that he was “at the gates of hell” and police were attempting to steal his body parts.

Officers attempted to reason with Rucker and get him to sit down, however, he would not cooperate.

Rucker was walking around the building babbling incoherently, the press release adds. He then leaned against a wall and officers advised him to sit down and wait for the ambulance.

Rucker then advised that he had smoked something nicknamed “common”. Rucker then stepped forward with his fists clenched toward Officer Kent Wilson.

At this time, officers decided that the only way to ensure Rucker’s safety was to restrain him. Officers were able to take hold of Rucker and take him to the ground in order to secure him.

As Rucker resisted being handcuffed, Officer Wilson sustained bruising and swelling to his left knee. A short time later Rucker was handcuffed.

Marion General Hospital medical personnel arrived on scene and Rucker was transferred to the ambulance cot and secured. Rucker was medically cleared at MGH, and then transported to the Grant County Jail without further incident.

Rucker faces charges of Disorderly Conduct, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Resisting Law Enforcement, a Level 6 Felony.
