BREAKING: Two juveniles threaten school shooting at Madison-Grant

The Grant County Sheriff’s Department has charged two Madison-Grant students after they made a school shooting threat to friends.

The Sheriff’s Department was advised of the threat at around 8:03 p.m. last night, according to the department’s hot sheet.

According to Capt. Ed Beaty two male eighth-graders told their friends that they were planning a school shooting on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

The Sheriff’s Department began investigating the threats and found out they were true, Beaty said. He added that at least one of the two juveniles had access to a firearm that the department is aware of at this time.

Both juveniles are being charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon against a school, a Level 5 Felony.

They’ve since been transported to the Grant County Juvenile Detention Center.

In a letter to parents, Superintendent Dr. Scott Deetz said:

“Safety of our students and staff is a top concern for the sheriff’s department and Madison-Grant, and we are coordinating efforts to investigate the incident … While we cannot give many details, please know that neither the sheriff’s department nor the MG administration will back down until the message has been made clear to these students, and others, that this type of behavior will NOT be tolerated. We ask that you help to reinforce this message not just today, but also in the future. Your support in this matter is invaluable to both law enforcement and to Madison-Grant.”

This is an active investigation and more information will be added as it comes to light.
