Oak Hill school board votes 5-1 against renewing Superintendent Martin

This week the Oak Hill school board voted to not renew the contract of Superintendent Joel Martin in a 5-1 vote.

Dana Biggs, the one dissenting vote, said that Martin is a good person and has done a great job as superintendent.

Biggs said while he expected the vote, he was shocked no other board members said anything when the motion was brought up.

“It’s hard to know you can make that decision without any explanation,” he said. “I think our community has questions, but I don’t have any good answers.”

Martin’s contract runs out in June and the search for a replacement will begin after the New Year.
