CDC urges Hoosiers to get flu shot amid higher death rate

The state has been hit hard this year with flu activity.

The St. Joseph County Health Department says there is a 50% increase in the number of flu-related deaths in the Hosier state alone.

There have been 64 reported in Indiana.

The Health Department notes that children are suffering the most with 105 pediatric flu deaths this year nationwide.

The influenza B strain of the flu is expected to stay through March.

The CDC says it’s not too late to get vaccinated, in fact, if you get the flu shot your chance of getting sick goes down 45% (55% for kids.)
