BREAKING: Marion Mayor issues executive stay-at-home order

Mayor Jess Alumbaugh has issued Marion residents to stay at home with an executive order that falls in line with state and federal orders.

The declaration is aimed at slowing the spread of the novel coronavirus in Marion and the larger Grant County area as a whole, which as of Sunday, has seen 3 deaths and 19 cases.

Effective at noon Monday, the City of Marion offices will be closed and all departments will continue to perform city business as usual.

The Building Department will continue to process and issue building permit requests and conduct building inspections in an effort to continue construction without interruption.

The Citywide Maintenance facility will no longer accept or routinely pick up brush during this state of emergency. There’s no access to the facility by the public.

The Transportation Department terminal will be closed, but the bus service will provide ADA service with a 24-hour notice.

The park system will remain open with limited accessibility. Playground equipment cannot be used. The Gardens of Matter Park will remain accessible, however.

Grant County remains under an orange travel watch until further notice, meaning travel is limited to essential travel only such as to and from work, grocery, medical treatment or supplies, emergency situations and other essential services.
