Environmental groups ask INDOT to reconsider southern Indiana highway plan

A southern Indiana highway plan has an obstacle in its path in the form of environmental groups.

A coalition of environmental groups is asking the Indiana Department of Transportation to stop with its planned highway that would connect Rockport and Jasper to I-69.

The groups say the highway will not only disrupt forests but caves in the area as well. The highway has been on the minds of Indiana and Kentucky officials for years.

They’re closing in on picking a route and a design for the highway.
