July is National Grilling Month. Not a big surprise. And what food item do people like to grill the most? STEAK!
Now this is where the debate begins. What is the best steak to cook? Well in a recent survey, when it comes to a favorite cut of steak, there was a close vote between several options — T-bone emerged at the top (16 percent), but porterhouse (11 percent), ribeye steaks (10 percent) and filet mignon (10 percent) were also high on the list.
I am a Filet man myself. And although a ribeye is very flavorful, sometimes it has a bit too much fat for me. But all cuts if cooked properly are usually pretty tasty. Pair it with a baked potato and some grilled veggies…heaven on Earth!
What temperature do you cook them? This seems like more of a drag out fight between people. Though well-done was the favorite with 21 percent of the vote, it was closely followed by medium-well (20 percent) and medium (16 percent). A well done steak..sorry that is just wrong! And although I prefer medium ( no red for me) I know many like it medium rare.
And the general opinion seems to be to have it marinaded and add a little salt and pepper. That will make the perfect steak. Feel free to share your thoughts. And happy grilling this 4th of July weekend and all month!
