MPD arrests man in stabbing incident

One man has been arrested after a stabbing yesterday afternoon.

According to a press release from Marion Police Department Deputy Chief Stephen Dorsey, officers responded to America’s Best Value Inn & Suites located at 6138 Corridor Drive for a reported stabbing.

Dorsey said that 32-year-old Jeremy Brashear reported he was outside of his hotel room on the second floor when he was confronted by 40-year-old Brandon Bryant. Brashear reported that he heard Bryant mumbling about him being a “snitch.”

According to the press release, the two men started to fight, with Brashear reporting that Bryant stabbed him in the left side of his head.

A witness stated she was waiting for Brashear to come back into the hotel room when she heard him yelling. Dorsey said that the witness reported that Bryant stabbed Brashear and then left.

An officer and K9 located Bryant in the wood line east of the hotel, near a creek. According to the press release, Bryant failed to comply with police orders and the K9 was released and made contact with him. The kife and knife sheath were found by the creek.

Both Bryant and Brashear were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

After receiving medical treatment, Bryant was transported to the Grant County Jail on charges of aggravated battery, a Level 3 Felony and resisting law enforcement, on a $50,000 bond, according to Dorsey.
