MUNCIE — A Fort Wayne woman accused of burning a baby and holding its face to a moving treadmill will not go on trial. A judge yesterday said doctors agree that Amber Vannatter is not mentally fit enough for trial. Police say Vannatter burned a baby with a lighter, then held the little girl’s face against a treadmill back in August of last year. Vannatter was babysitting at the time. Vannatter will instead go to a state mental hospital to see if she can ever be fit enough for a trial.
