More Mounds Lake Reservoir Public Hearings Planned
Residents of Delaware and Madison counties will soon have more chances to see and hear about the plans for the proposed Mounds Lake Reservoir.
The “Star-Press” reports that more public hearings on the proposed 21-hundred acre reservoir that would stretch from Anderson to north of Yorktown will be held in March and April. The hearings will be held in Anderson, Yorktown, Daleville and Chesterfield, though dates and times have yet to be determined.
Planners have said the Mounds Lake Reservoir could be an economic growth stimulus for the area as well as ensuring a major source of drinking water. Opponents argue that the cost of the project is overwhelming and the impact on affected residents would be devastating.
Developers say the estimated price tag for the reservoir is 400-million dollars.
