Marion City Council Begins Budget Hearings Tonight

The Marion City Council begins the long process of determining the city’s 2019 budget when hearings begin this evening on the budgeting process.

Council members will go through the proposals from each city department over the next three nights, trying to come up with a way to fund the city’s needs but not putting it in a bind financially.

After hearings tonight, Wednesday night and Thursday night, the budget will be presented for an initial vote next Tuesday night.  A second reading and public hearing on the proposed 2019 budget will be followed by a final vote on the spending plan the night of October 16th before the budget is sent to the state for review.
